Treasures of the Ashmolean Museum (till 2008)

This exhibition will provide visitors with an extraordinary overview of the Museum's treasures displayed alongside one another. Two hundred of the most significant objects from the collections of Antiquities, Eastern Art and Coins will be exhibited throughout the period of the redevelopment of the Ashmolean.

An exhibition arranged in collaboration with the Antiquarian Horological Society, which illustrates the regional distinctiveness of provincial clock making, as well as its evolution over time. These clocks from private collections are not normally on public display. They show the variety of styles that emerged with the increasing demand for locally made clocks, as well as the influences of science, manufacturing technology and fashion.

Exploring Space (Till Sunday 28 January 2007)

This hands-on exhibition includes cosmonaut’s clothing, ancient astronomical instruments and space technology from Oxfordshire’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Treasured Textiles - Cloth and Clothing Around the World (Till April 2007)

An exhibition of textiles and costumes which celebrates the vibrancy of pattern created through weaving, printing, dyeing and stitching techniques. A highlight of the show will be Indian women’s clothing made in Mexico and Guatemala in the 1930s. Gloriously decorative in colour and design, the patterning was developed through hand weaving with additional ornament in brocading, appliqué or embroidery.
